First of all, people in sales are rewarded by getting paid a commission. That Realtor who sold or helped you buy your house? They receive a commission (generally 1.5-3% of the sales price). The car salesman who sold you your last car – he or she received a commission. There is nothing unfair or wrong with receiving a commission, sales is hard work and is compensated accordingly.
With that out of the way, let’s talk about solar commissions. A solar salesman (or saleswoman) who works for a solar company that pays a low commission rate can earn over $100,000 a year by selling just one solar system a week – and that $2,000 commission on the average size solar system is on the low end. Go jump onto some Facebook groups where solar salesmen hang out and you will see brags of $5,000 commissions, $10,000 commissions, and even the occasional $15-20,000 commission.
